As the horrible midterm exam week approaches, I bet that a lot of you guys start to miss the wonderful days that you had during the QingMing Festival, right? If you are not, I feel sorry for you because I miss it a lot. In fact, I miss it so much that I’m going to write a journal about it. And without further ado, let’s jump into the topic: what did I do within that 7-days long Qingming holiday.

Unlike the usual QingMing festival that our family would have, this year me and my dad decided to try something different, which is going out during the holiday. I know going out doesn’t sound like a grand master plan, but trust me it’s definitely better than just being a coach potato for straight seven days. (FYI, my mom is currently working in Hong Kong, so sadly she didn’t join us for the trip.) My dad booked us a room at the hotel, called Adagio, at Jinguashi. The hotel is just like its name slow and simple, but to be honest, it’s a little bit tooooo slow for me. The reason is that the TV in the room literally does not have any channels, and there’s no refrigerator in the room only a shared one down the hallway. I mean come on! What kind of hotel doesn’t have channels and fridege!

Nevertheless, the hotel does have some lovely part or otherwise the journal title would probably be changed into “My Miserable Holiday”. The view from the room was just spectacular because you can see the valley, mountain, and even the cars driving down the winding road on the opposite mountain all at a glance. Moreover, due to the weather, the hotel seems to be permanently shrouded in the mist, which makes me feel like I’m some kind of fairytale creature living in the mysterious forest. Also, the exquisite corner in the room can say to be the cherry on top. You can lie down there viewing the picturesque mountain view from the window for hours and even act like a poser using the easel to draw a picture, which guilty as charged I really did do that.

And something else worth mentioning are the food we ate in the hotel and a small restaurant near it. The food in the hotel was amazing especially for those who like seafood as I am. Every ingredient comes straight from the local farm, market, or even from the hotel’s front yard, which in my opinion perfectly reflect the aim of the hotel—slow and simple. As for the food in the small restaurant, the pasta was the showstopper. I love the saltiness of the Prosciutto and the slightly firm texture of the pasta. It was just simply a good restaurant to go to.

At last, I want to say that a trip would not be great if there’s nobody that can share the joy with. That is, I felt grateful to my dad for bringing me out because I really like the feeling of going on a trip with my family members. Especially after studying in college, the time that I spend with them have a drastic and obvious decline. That kind of lost makes me want to cherish more when I get the chance to stay with them. Therefore, shout out to my dad though the hotel room didn’t have a fridge and tv channels, I still love it and it’s fun to go out with you!
